From October 27th to October 29th, a three-day Sri Ann Mahotsav and a state-level Millets workshop will be held at the Indira Gandhi Pratishthan in Lucknow, Uttar Pradesh. Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath will inaugurate the event. During the festival, students from agricultural universities and colleges will be familiarized with the work of farmers who are engaged in millet farming.
Officials from the Department of Agriculture explained that through this festival, on one hand, discussions will take place connecting the younger generation with progressive farmers in the field of agriculture, while on the other hand, it will inspire other farmers to produce millet crops. The government will also raise awareness about the production, consumption, marketing, and export of millet products through this event. In the conference, 50 progressive farmers from each district, 10 representatives of farmer producer organizations, and 10 technical assistants will participate. There will also be 40 stalls for Sri Ann's products.
Farmers from all 18 districts will participate in the Ann Mahotsav, with the highest participation expected from the Lucknow, Meerut, and Kanpur districts. According to the Agriculture Department, on the 27th, 420 farmers will attend from Lucknow and Kanpur, 350 from Ayodhya, 280 from Devipatan, 210 from Basti, and 160 from Azamgarh, along with representatives from FPOs and technical assistants. On the 28th, 420 farmers will come from Meerut, 350 from Muradabad, and 280 from Agra-Aligarh. On the same day, there will be 250 students and teachers from the agricultural university, 160 from Saharanpur, and 100 from agricultural colleges. On the 29th, 280-280 farmers from Gorakhpur, Prayagraj, Varanasi, and Bareilly, and 160 from Jhansi, Chitrakoot, and Mirzapur districts will participate.
