To enhance farmers' income and improve their economic status, the Bihar government is implementing various measures. One significant initiative is providing subsidies to farmers for cultivating cash crops such as mango, banana, coconut, guava, papaya, and lychee. This support aims to help farmers take advantage of these lucrative opportunities.

Income from Coconut Farming:

Summer fruits are highly beneficial for the body. By cultivating fruits, farmers can increase their income and improve their health. The Bihar government is encouraging farmers to grow mangoes, bananas, and coconuts. In Darbhanga district, efforts are underway to promote the cultivation of these fruits, with a target of 45 hectares for mango and banana farming. The government offers a subsidy of ₹45,000 for fruit cultivation. The demand for coconut water significantly increases during the summer, as well as during religious ceremonies. Coconut water sells for ₹50 to ₹60 in the market.

75% Subsidy from Bihar Government:

The Bihar government is motivating farmers to cultivate mangoes, papayas, bananas, and coconuts by providing a subsidy of up to 75%. This subsidy will be disbursed in two installments, with each plant costing around ₹85. Under the Chief Minister Horticulture Mission Scheme, the target is to cultivate 25 hectares of mangoes and 20 hectares of bananas.

First Come, First Serve Scheme: Farmers can benefit from the "First Come, First Serve" scheme, where the Horticulture Department provides a 75% subsidy for planting coconut trees. This scheme is available to both urban and rural farmers, with a maximum benefit for 4 hectares per farmer. The Coconut Development Board will supply the coconut saplings to farmers.

How to Apply: Farmers in Bihar can avail of this subsidy under the Integrated Horticulture Development Mission Scheme by applying through the official website of the Horticulture Department at horticulture.bihar.gov.in.
