IMD alert: Heavy rain expected in these areas, weather forecast for the next few days

According to the Meteorological Department, heavy to very heavy rainfall is forecasted for various regions of the country today, with some places likely to experience extremely heavy rainfall. Let's take a look at the rainfall activities across the country.

Weather Update for July 24:

As per the IMD, isolated places in Goa, Madhya Maharashtra, and Gujarat State are expected to witness heavy to very heavy rainfall (≥ 20 cm) today. Additionally, heavy to very heavy rainfall (≥ 12 cm) is likely at isolated places in Punjab, Haryana-Chandigarh-Delhi, East Rajasthan, Madhya Pradesh, Chhattisgarh, and Odisha. Other regions such as Jammu-Kashmir-Ladakh-Gilgit-Baltistan-Muzaffarabad, Himachal Pradesh, Uttarakhand, West Uttar Pradesh, Vidarbha, Jharkhand, Arunachal Pradesh, Assam and Meghalaya, Nagaland, Manipur, Mizoram and Tripura, Kerala and Mahe, Coastal Karnataka, and South Interior Karnataka are also expected to experience heavy rainfall (≥ 7 cm).

The Meteorological Department has indicated the possibility of thunderstorms accompanied by lightning and gusty winds (speed reaching 30-40 kmph) at isolated places in West Rajasthan. Moreover, thunderstorms with lightning are expected at isolated places in Jammu-Kashmir-Ladakh-Gilgit-Baltistan-Muzaffarabad, Himachal Pradesh, Uttarakhand, Punjab, Haryana-Chandigarh-Delhi, West Uttar Pradesh, Rajasthan, Madhya Pradesh weather, Vidarbha, Chhattisgarh, and Bihar.

Weather Forecast for the Next 5 Days for Western, Central, and Southern India:

The IMD has released a weather forecast for the next 5 days. In the western, central, eastern, and southern regions, isolated places in Gujarat State, Konkan, Goa, and Madhya Maharashtra are likely to experience extremely heavy rainfall on July 24. Odisha is expected to receive very heavy rainfall at isolated places from July 24-26, while Konkan and Goa may experience similar conditions on July 25-26. Very heavy rainfall is also anticipated in Madhya Maharashtra and Gujarat State from July 25-28, and in Madhya Pradesh and Chhattisgarh on July 24. Kerala and Mahe are expected to see very heavy rainfall on July 25.
Heavy rainfall is likely at isolated places in Odisha, Kerala and Mahe, and Karnataka from July 24-28. Jharkhand and Vidarbha are expected to experience heavy rainfall on July 24. Konkan and Goa may see heavy rainfall on July 27-28, and Madhya Pradesh and Chhattisgarh are likely to experience heavy rainfall from July 25-28.
