On June 12, 2024, Agriculture and Rural Development Minister Shivraj Singh Chouhan planted trees at the National Agricultural Science Complex in New Delhi. Minister Chouhan, who is committed to planting trees daily, also reviewed ongoing projects with senior officials.

Commitment to Daily Tree Planting:

On February 19, 2020, during the Narmada Jayanti celebration at Amarkantak, the source of the Narmada River, Minister Chouhan pledged to plant trees every day. Continuing this commitment, he planted a tree today at the National Agricultural Science Complex in New Delhi.

Enhancing Farmers' Lives through Tree Planting:

On the first day of his third term, Prime Minister Narendra Modi allocated ministerial portfolios, appointing Shivraj Singh Chouhan to oversee agriculture and rural development. Taking on this role, Minister Chouhan aims to work tirelessly to improve farmers' lives. To realize Prime Minister Modi's vision of doubling farmers' incomes, the 'Natural Farming Happy Farmers' scheme was launched in 2018 with a budget of ₹25 crore. This initiative aims to reduce farming costs, increase income, protect humans and the environment from the adverse effects of chemical farming, and promote agriculture that aligns with environmental and climate change adaptations.

Roadmap for Rural Development: Minister Chouhan stated that significant progress has been made in agriculture, farmers' welfare, and rural development over the past decade. A roadmap has been prepared for farmers' welfare and rural development, emphasizing that Prime Minister Narendra Modi and the government's top priority is the welfare of farmers.

Plan to Plant 500 Million Trees by 2030: Minister Chouhan announced an ambitious plan to plant 500 million trees by 2030. As part of this initiative, all participating farmers will be provided with accident insurance. On World Environment Day 2023, Minister Chouhan launched a campaign with 22,000 farmers to plant 12 million trees.
